We get asked alot about the size of icing wires so I have put some facts below to help take the mystery out of this.
The wires can come in gage 18-30 . The lower the gage the thicker the wire hence 18 is a very thick wire and 30 is the thinnest. 18-22 are used mostly for icing star burst decorations as they need the thickness to stand up. Where as the thinner gage 24-30 are used for flower making and putting sprays together.
I have put a pic to show you all how easy it is to make star burst icing decorations as these are so quick and easy!

*Slide your fondant decoration onto your wire and dry on a tray lined with baking paper which has been sprinkled lightly with cornflour so they do not stick.
*Let Dry 1-2 days and then lift up when dry, brush off excess cornflour and decorate your cake!
